Washington reports growing concern over farm product markets and the potential for a third party after November. Analysts cite wheat and hog price shifts, party platform debates, and candidate nominations as key factors shaping public sentiment and future coalitions.
In Danville Illinois on Ver Milion street Uncle Joe Cannon's car collided with a vehicle driven by Joseph Hostick as Hostick exited an alley. The Cannon car tore off a running board and wheels and dragged the other car a short distance. The veteran politician stayed in his car until wrecking crews freed the damaged vehicles.
Marshall conducts tag day for Salvation Army to meet the $500 share of the $1800 county quota. American Legion post led by Commander Poorman and others enlist volunteers including Miss Irene Carpenter and Augusta O Neal to solicit. Doughnut tag rewards boost participation. Officials urge county checks and final county-wide reports.
A visiting Illinois man, J. C. Alverson of Grandmere Quebec, toured by car after leaving Portland Oregon and noted Laurentide Paper Co. outputs of 500 cords of four foot wood per day and 409 tons of printing paper daily, supplying The New York Times and Gazette of Montreal among others. He also traced his Illinois roots and current national trip with stops at the To-Rest Park.
Temporary tanks were placed at the Ry an lease well near Martinsville when lightning struck the septic tank causing a the oil to ignite and destroy four storage tanks and about 140 barrels of oil. Loss estimated at about 1500 dollars including tanks and oil on hand.
Campaign year activities set two party days at the Clark county fair in Martinsville from August 19 to 23. Republican Day is August 21 and Democratic Day August 23 with nationally known speakers. Ku Klux Klan events noted for August 22 alongside exhibits racing and carnival attractions.

Also reports: Robinson couple wed at Methodist parsonage Andrew Colt and Madge Smith. Tuscola bank robbery by six masked men netted 5 000 to 10 000 dollars. Westfield man J F Reglin takes Hasson’s place at Ohio Oil Co in Marshall. Old Settlers Reunion opens in York with Republican and Democratic days upcoming. Clark Co Fair note from Aug 1922 and a Spokane visitor.
City council approved the south side sewer and pedestal light plan after debate and a 4 to 2 vote. J W Richards tried to speak against the second ordinance but was limited by the chair. Injunction threats surfaced but no action occurred before press time.
