Animal scientist J E Zimmerman reports that yearling Hereford steers and calves reached maximum daily gains between 28 and 56 days on feed. Long-fed groups had higher slaughter costs and worse retail yield, while carcass data showed deeper fat and higher grades but lower total retail yield for long-fed cattle.

Marshall Lions Finish Home Schedule With Close Win
Marshall Lions track squad closed their home schedule by hosting Cumberland Pirates at Lions Field. Albert Wernz led with wins in pole vault and hurdles and placed in high jump for 18 points. Tim Cork and Don Samford won multiple events while the 880 relay set a new time. The team faced Martinsville, Cumberland, and Newton this week with Frosh Soph conference action next Monday at Newton.
