Jackson December 4. Immediate consideration will be given to the parole of Werden, part of a group of 400 men eligible for release as authorities review cases and conditions.
Det. 4.-uhjotto Lochse, a Pontiac banker and former Pontiac school president, starts a five to ten year sentence for embezzling 15000. He previously served 18 days, was freed on appeal, and the state supreme court upheld the conviction. He will perform janitor work after quarantine ends.
Secretary of the Treasury Mellon advised Congress in his annual report that reductions in income tax receipts and customs revenues in 1930 make the one percent tax cut on income taxes indefensible. He forecast a treasury deficit of 180,076,000 by June 30, 1931, the first since wartime, and a surplus of 30,800,000 for 1932. He noted revenue prospects would determine whether the tax cut would continue.
United Frees staff report that anti prohibition wets formed a bloc in Congress led by Rep. Charles Linthicum of Maryland. Miss Winifred Spooner of Britain and co pilot Edwards were forced to ditch off the Calabrian coast during a record Croydon to Cape Town flight. They spent two hours in the wrecked plane in rain before Spooner swam ashore to Del Monte and alerted railway workers for Edwards. Rescue boats and railway assistance aided the men as a motor failure caused the crash in rough seas.
In Detroit a two story brick building housing a grocer's stock was destroyed by a blast. The body of Bartolo Oddo 27 was recovered. Oddo had been missing since late Tuesday, and risk fears prompted a firemen search. Authorities have not yet determined the explosion's cause.
Lansing dispatch reports the state senate will meet in the afternoon to select a successor to Secretary Dennis Alward who died after the close of the 1829 session. Four primary ballots are listed in the 1919 1921 29 and 227 lines as possible candidates. Chase also considered.
A circuit court jury awarded Leo L. Porter of Battle Creek $522 damages against Tingay Bros Nash automobile dealers of Marshall. Porter bought a Nash Special sedan in May 1929 and, after trade, paid $550 note. He alleges the car was a wrecked demonstrator with a twisted frame and poor performance and sought damages equal to the decline in value from purchase to payment. Tingay Bros contended they did not own the car at the time. McDaniels owned it and changed notes.
Sir Thomas Lipton, the Irish yachtsman, accepted a gold cup from Mayor Walker in a New York ceremony. Lipton expressed gratitude, thanked America, and repeated his wish to lift the America's Cup, noting the gift as a tribute to his perseverance and sportsmanlike conduct.
Gerald Carlton a 21 year old freshman from Escanaba vanished after leaving his fraternity house Saturday night. Authorities, police, and friends searched the campus and state, tracking his bank closure and mid semester reports as clues. Publicity and radio broadcasts were issued today to aid in the search.

Detroit officials arranged police supervision for a planned communist demonstration in front of city hall Friday morning. Mayor Frank Murphy and Police Commissioner Thomas Wilcox discussed reports that some leaders of a riotous Washington capitol protest last Monday may direct the Detroit event.
