An incumbent judge, Hon. Robert A. Anthony, announces candidacy for Judge of the Twenty-seventh Judicial Circuit subject to the Democratic Party. The report includes scattered political notes, indictments, trial dates, and personal misfortunes from various regions.

Last Monday night at Brownwood John Greer was beaten and left on the saloon porch. His body was found Saturday morning. Coroner's jury found the beating caused his death. Prosecuting Attorney Revelle attended the inquest and filed an information charging Tom Hargraves, saloon proprietor, with Greer's murder.
A damages case between Judge Joseph Hunter and L. B. Craven was settled satisfactorily at the Davis hotel. Principal parties and local citizens, including J. W. Jackson and L. A. Lewis, rested there before the morning train to Marble Hill, where the case was to be tried.
In Marble Hill a court session degenerated as Mr Jackson and Mr Lewis acted as both counsel and judge. Jurors Albert Davis and Col George Steiniger spoke little while the judge interrupted. Steiniger wagered he could fix the matter in five minutes. By midnight a compromise paid all costs and dismissed the suit. The Belligerents returned home content, Lewis and Jackson praising their legal theatrics.
The state university agricultural department discusses hog cholera, prevalent statewide, and recommends feeding charcoal to hogs and regular salting. It claims this prevents the disease, and provides a recipe and instructions for using it to protect hogs and cure dogs afflicted with it. The mixture reportedly contains charcoal and salt as key components.
A historical recipe lists chemical ingredients including phur chloride of sodium and various sodium compounds amounting to several pounds. It instructs grinding the ingredients to a powder and mixing, then giving daily in tablespoonful doses to a 200 pound hog, with dose adjustments for lighter or heavier hogs.
The Greenville Journal notes a county option election will be contested over alleged irregularities after a 225 vote majority. Prominent locals C. W. Creath and I. W. McDonald sign the notice, urging support for home trade and public improvements while condemning calamity howlers.
