Walter Diehl longtime Manito printer dies after illness
Walter H. Diehl known as Dad Diehl dies at his Elmhurst home at 7 15 Tuesday September 1 following five years of poor health. He started as a printer’s devil at age 14 for the Manito Express and later worked for C C Shoop before moving to Elmhurst in 1920 to work for the Chicago Tribune and later run his own shop. He is survived by his wife Letha two children Theo and Robert a brother S A Diehl and three grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be in Elmhurst this afternoon.

Havana Little Theatre Guild Opens Centennial
The Havana Little Theatre Guild staged a preview parade for the Havana Centennial to run September 5 to 7. Spectators lined the streets while local horse owners and the Illinois State Stock Horse Assn aided with props and facilities. The opening night, Saturday at 7 30 p m, will feature highlights from 1853 to 1953 at Court House Square on a special stage.
