Forest City Family Night hosted by Home and School Club

The Forman Home and School Club held a family night on Monday October 19 at the Forest City gym with many parents teachers and guests attending a potluck supper. A treasurer report noted progress on prior projects and a January meeting was moved to Spring Lake school.

Few Ducks For Hunters Tomorrow

The duck hunting season starts at noon tomorrow but few ducks are seen in the Illinois valley. Hunters plan to conserve ammo and patience until the weather changes in coming days to drive birds southward. Shooting hours run from half an hour before sunrise to sunset around 5 p.m.

Birth of second child for Bar Shertz couple

Mr and Mrs Bar Shertz of Hopedale announce the birth of their second child and first daughter on Monday October 26. The nine pound girl has a brother Mike. The mother is Jean Parr of Green Valley and the maternal great grandmother is Mrs Kate Heyl of Egypt Community.

October 27 and 30 set for annual tuberculin testing in Mason County High Schools. Grace Kitteneuer explains tuberculosis and testing at the schools. Bond Issue Defeated In Manita Township Vote

Three hundred seventy two voters showed up for the Manita Township special election and defeated the $110,000 bond issue two to one. In Precinct I the tally was 92 yes and 156 no with five named precinct workers listed. Precinct II reported 56 yes and 68 no as the bond failed.
