Funeral services for Roy B. Calloway 65 will be at Abts Mortuary Pekin with Rev. Albrecht officiating. He died Oct 14 after months of illness. Born Sept 21 1888 near Manito he farmed at Spring Lake then moved to Pekin in 1944. Surviving are his widow two sons a daughter and five grandchildren.

Amateur Show Seeks Young Performers Across Forest City Manila

Injured in Fall From Farm Equipment

Mrs. Les Woodruff was taken to Pekin hospital after a fall from a tractor trailer at their home while helping with farm work. X rays showed a broken collar bone and three broken ribs. She will remain in the hospital for treatment.

The Official Board of The Community Methodist Church elected a committee to obtain plans and prices for a new parsonage. Chairman Lewis Warner leads Reuben Golden Helen Bernshausen Vernie Ethel and Eugene Buck. They visited parsonages in Emden Pekin San Prairie Masseville Tonica and Streator for ideas.

Funeral services for Barbara Hirst 15 in Manito area

Barbara Hirst 15 daughter of Charles and Viola Mae Gray Hirst died in a motorcycle crash on route 9 near the Pekin bridge Sunday evening. Funeral services were held at 1 30 p m Wednesday at Knecks Funeral Home. She was the granddaughter of Mrs Lutecia Gray and the great granddaughter of Mrs Agnes Gay of Manito.

Ennis Crafton Spends Weekend at Home

Ennis Crafton nine year old son of Mr and Mrs James Crafton was allowed a weekend visit at his home after three months in St Francis hospital and a nursing home. He uses a wheelchair and is convalescing from a major operation to relieve polio caused condition.

Mrs Rankin Hurt In Auto Crash Near Donaldson Iowa

Mrs Rankin sustained cuts from broken glass after a four girl group failed to stop at a gravel crossroad and struck the Rankin car broadside near Donaldson Iowa. She was treated at Sacred Heart hospital Ft Madison and kept overnight. The Rankin party and four others escaped serious injury. the Rankin car sustained heavy damage.

187 signatures filed to issue 110000 in road bonds for township drainage grading and gravel work. Election next Tuesday Oct 20 at Manita Opera House precinct 1 and Town Hall precinct 2 from 6 am to 5 pm. Work under Highway Commissioner Glenn Williams with local labor. Mason County Legion Council Meeting October 23

The Mason County Council of the American Legion and Auxiliary will meet at Manito Methodist Church basement on Friday October 23. A pot-luck supper starts at 6 30 p.m. followed by a social evening. A prize will be awarded to the unit with the most members present, excluding the Manito Post and Auxiliary.
