Warn Vandals On Postal Property

Postmasters in Mason County warn citizens about damage to mail boxes and other postal property. They note such acts are rare but occur around Halloween with stiff penalties. The law imposes fines up to 1000 dollars or up to three years imprisonment for willful damage to mail receptacles or contents. Postmaster Glenn G. Smith says offenses will be prosecuted.

Corn Picker Victim Leonard Bitner Injured in Accident

Leonard Bitner formerly of Topeka Neighborhood now of Bath Community sustained severe injuries in a corn picker accident. Doctors amputated four fingers of his right hand. He is married to former Donna Jean Briggs.

The Manito rotary club heard Barney Maticka recreation director of Pekin speak and show 800 feet of Hawaiian life film. Bob Mahr arranged the program. Two new members Russell Maas and Rev Ed Watson joined. Four visitors attended including Rev Leslie R Stewart Earl Terwilliger Ed Secor and Arnold Allen. Attendance near district average with local 88.75 percent and district 88.03.
