Rotary Club hears Havana youth program talk

The Manito Rotary Club met at the Methodist church and heard Richard Hurley of Havana discuss the Havana Optimist Club youth program. Howard White then showed pictures of the youth recreational program with 500 enrolled and about 125 average daily attendance over ten weeks.

RNA County Convention Elects Chancelor in Mason City

At the Royal Neighbors of America convention in Mason City Mrs J W Cooper was elected County Chancelor. Mesdames Cooper and Kathryn Hamilton attended the convention with plans for the 1953 RNA County Meet at Bath High School with Sni carte Camp as co-hostesses.

Forest City Band Reunion Brings Members Families Together

The Forest City Band reunion gathered about 70 people Sunday afternoon September 26 in the Forest City high school gym. Dillard Warner hosted as master of ceremonies while LaVerne Wiemer and Wesley Wiemer led the program. Charles Bortell the oldest member present was honored as his wife attended. Elmer and Charles Bortell were charter members present. A duet by Dillard Warner and Paul Clauser with the band performed Now Is The Hour and Rev. Joseph Hobbs gave a brief address before a memorial observance.

Funeral services held for Fred J Worner 74

Fred J Worner died at home Sunday morning. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Green Valley Methodist Church with Rev. F. A. Havighurst of Bloomington assisted by Rev. C. R. Underwood. Burial followed in Green Valley Cemetery. He was a respected farmer of Green Valley and had been in poor health for some time. He was a brother of Chas F Worner of Manito.
