The Forman Future Farmers of America coop with local implement dealers held a Corn Picker Safety Meeting on September 29. Frank Golden led with safety slides and warnings, dealers spoke on safety topics, and 55 attendees viewed display pickers and received coffee and doughnuts. Funeral Services for Elmer Palmer Held in Manito
Funeral services for Elmer Palmer 56 were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 30 at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph W. Hobbs officiating and burial in Meadow Lawn Cemetery. Palmer, lifelong Manito resident and former sexton, died Sept. 27 in Pekin Hospital after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife Iya Vance Palmer, two daughters Opal Ethell and Lela Johnson, five sons Nelson Harold Clarence, and nine grandchildren, plus nine siblings and his parents. Robert Palmer, his oldest son, was a World War II casualty from Manito.
