Jambura and Selke Wed In Peoria Home Ceremony

Miss Joanne Jambura daughter of Mr and Mrs Earle Jambura of Oregon wed Harold Selke son of Mr and Mrs Harry Selke of Manito in a 9 am double ring ceremony at the couple’s Pekin apartment Rev Joseph W Hobbs officiated. Attendants included Matron of honor Mrs Russell Strauman and best man Russell Strauman. A turkey dinner followed at 1024 South Fifth Street Pekin with guests from Illinois Wisconsin and Oregon. The couple planned a short wedding trip to the Ozarks and reside at 419 Linn Street Peoria.

Clayton Folkman Honored by J H C

Clayton Folkman of Canton known to Manito residents received a ruby pin from International Harvester Company Canton for twenty five years of continuous service in the production department. He has worked at the same machine since 1926 without an accident and earned wartime award prizes for machine part suggestions.

Chili Supper Sponsored by Forest City Post and Unit

The Forest City Post and Unit announce a Chili Hot Dog and Pie Supper at Town Hall on Thursday evening December 6. Serving begins at 5 o'clock with homemade candy and pop available. children can try the Fish Pond. Proceeds fund a Christmas treat for local children. Legion and Auxiliary welcome patrons.

Scout Troop 174 Boys Earn First Swim Test in Peoria

Fifteen boys from Scout Troop No. 174 attended a swimming class at the YMCA pool in Peoria on Wednesday evening. Three boys Dean Wilson Gary Gordon and Jerry Bilyeu passed their first swimming test. Three adults driving cars were Darrel Hirst Kenny Monroe and Hank Fischer. The boys reported a good time and were pleased with the trip.

Rotary Meeting Speaker Discusses Crime Ring Detection

Elvin Knuppel announced Walter Blessman Jr. of Havana as the guest speaker. Blessman, active in Mason County education, spoke about a college course tour at Western Teacher's College last summer and his talks with New York City crime detector crews battling a teenage narcotics ring. The audience gave a 100 percent attendance.

Forman Braves Win Fourth Straight Over Greenview

Forman High School defeated Greenview 87 to 53 for their fourth consecutive victory. Parker Lawks led Forman with 19 points, followed by Heyl with 10. In the preliminary game Greenview beat Forman 23 to 19.

Past State Commander speaks at 20th District meet

Merle Schaad of The American Legion was principal speaker at the 20th District meeting in Mason City on November 18. He discussed Americanism and Legionary duties while reports on national convention gains and district programs were shared. The group voted to buy a radio for the Normal Illinois Legion Orphanage cottage and Commander Stuart Thomas attended representing Hill Palmer Post.
