District Governor to Visit Local Rotary Club on December 15

Announcement at Rotary meeting confirms the district governor will attend on Tuesday December 15 for his annual visit. Accordian Band Wins First Place in Forest City Talent Show

The Forest City accordion band directed by Mrs. Harry Schoonover won first place at the Forest City and Manila amateur talent show held November 13 and 14. Members pictured include Jean Parkins Marlene Parkins Shirley Foster Jackie Bilyeu Susan Barr Judy Schrader and Charlotte Fox. The group will appear on WEEK-TV once Stars of Tomorrow resumes. Public interest is sought for a new show for ages over 16. crowds reached about 175 Forest City and 250 to 300 Manito.

A Cub Scout pack formed in the Manitou Forest City Area drew eager 8 to 10 year olds but faces disbandment due to lack of Den mothers. Despite 20 plus scouts enrolled, volunteers are needed. contact Gene Buck or Bill Masters to serve.

Horseshoe Gun Club Forms In Manito Area

A small group of area residents formed the Horseshoe Gun Club and incorporated. They plan trap shoots at the George Hirst farm near Manito with 12 and 16 gauge shells. The first public shoot is set for Sunday November 22 at 1 30 with geese and ducks as prizes.

Mrs. Margaret Bishop 90 Dies in Pekin

Mrs. Mollie Corbett and daughter Mabel attended funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Bishop 90 at the Presbyterian church Pekin. She died at 4 40 a m Sunday at the home of her daughter Dr J L Corbett in Pekin. Burial was in Laurel Hill Havana. Born July 4 1863 in Mason County she married John Bishop in 1883. Surviving daughters Mary Corbett Pekin Evangeline Bishop Chicago and Ruth Behrends Havana.

Seymour's Store Opens Wednesday in Manilo

Seymour's Clothing store in Manilo opened on schedule with Frank McClary in charge. The article corrects a prior misprint stating the grand opening was to occur on Saturday November 28. The McClarys plan to move to Manita from Pekin when housing is found and have two small boys.

Youth Killed Injured in Mason City Crash

Jerry Griffin eighteen of Mason City died after being pinned under a car near Tehran while riding with two Easton youths. William See nineteen was treated at Deaconess Hospital for a broken arm and injuries. Dale Vanlaningham eighteen escaped serious harm.
