Road seeks state aid upgrade in federal system

A letter to Robert H. Allison from C. B. Casey, Director of Public Works, explains Illinois plans to reclassify Federal aid secondary Route 461 from Pekin south through Manito and Forest City to Ill. 119 east of Havana. The state will urge withdrawal from the Federal-aid secondary system and request designation as a Federal-aid primary route, awaiting final bureau approval.

Forest City students medal in district music contest

Forest City Community High School entrants won medals at the District Music Competition in Lincoln. Lurelle Whitaker earned a gold for B flat clarinet and will go to the State Contest in Macomb April 28 29. Glenda Kennedy won silver for girls medium voice and, with Loretta Dierker and Delta Lou Beale, earned silver for the vocal ensemble. Mrs Ferne Lawlis supervised and accompanied the performances.
