Forest City seniors stage capacity crowd in comedy

The Forest City High School Gym was filled Friday as seniors presented the three act comedy Don't Blame Me. Mrs Ferne Lawlis directed the production to acclaim with Miss Jean Eyman presenting roses to the director as the program featured piano duets and vocal numbers by Glenda Kennedy Loretta Dierker and Delta Lou Beale.

Am Red Cross Drive Held in Forest City

The Forest City Township completed its annual American Red Cross membership drive. Contributions totaled $186.75 with Forest City School District 66 raising $79.75 and rural districts contributing $107. Solicitors praised for deligntful work and residents for cooperation.

Manito High School Retains North Central Association Approval

Manito Community High School remains on the North Central Association approved list after a March 30 letter to Principal John J. Rush. The school has been a member since 1925 and was praised as unqualifiedly approved at the Chicago annual meeting.

The Federated Church schedules a 6:00 a.m. sunrise service for youth at the Methodist Church with breakfast in the Baptist basement. Mrs. Robert Cranwill attended the Pekin funeral Saturday for her brother Leonard D. McKay. He is survived by his wife and daughter Irene plus three sisters and one brother. Obituary for Mrs Clara Waldon of Manito

Clara Waldon born October 19 1878 in Dillon Township Tazewell County died April 2 1950 at her Manito home. She married Henry Waechter in 1898 and later John Walden in 1910. She lived in Tremont and Manito, mother to Herman Darrell Beulah Hazel and later grandchildren and great grandchild. She was active in Methodist circles and eastern stars. Funeral held April 2 1950 at Manito Community Methodist Church with Rev D J Powell. burial Lakeside Cemetery.

Public hearing set on 1950 formation of Mason County school district

Mason County Illinois officials announce a petition to form a community unit school district merging Manito No. 503 and Forest City No. 5600. A hearing with Joseph W. Hobbs, County Superintendent, will be held April 28, 1950, at Forest City Town Hall to review sufficiency and contiguity of the proposed territory.
