Armbrust Serves In Defenses With 1st Cavalry On Honshu

Service news notes Cpl Verden C Armbrust son of Mr and Mrs Clarence Armbrust Route 1 Topeka taking part in around the clock defensive maneuvers with the 1st Cavalry Division on Hokkaido Japan. Armbrust a truck driver in Battery C 82nd Field Artillery Battalion arrived in Korea April 1951 and has Korea service ribbon with one campaign star.

American Legion Auxiliary Makes Cigarette Favors for Vets

The American Legion Auxiliary met at Mrs. Henrietta Selke's home to craft two hundred St. Patrick Day themed cigarette tray favors for Jacksonville hospital veterans. Harry Nees 78 longtime Green Valley resident died suddenly at his home Tuesday morning. He was born in Manheim Pennsylvania November 20 1873 son of John and Katherine Nees. He married Minnie Fischer in 1899. she had died earlier. No school Friday in the For Man School Unit as teachers attend a one day County Institute in the Havana school gym. The program opens at 9 10 with an invocation by Rev. George Miller Rites Held at East Peoria

Funeral services for George A. Miller were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home. Miller died suddenly Thursday morning at work at Caterpillar Tractor Co. East Peoria. Rev. Joseph W. Hobbs officiated. Mrs. Ralph Ethell and Mrs. Vernie Ethell sang with accompaniment by Mrs. Robert Schumm. Pallbearers were Frank Singley, C. B. Willard, Glenn Smith, Charles Huffman, Rufus Guile, and Earl Rochester. Burial followed at Meadow Lawn.

Golden Link Party Held at Priddy Home

The Golden Link Class of the Methodist Sunday School met Wednesday evening in the home of Mrs. Clyde Priddy with Mrs. Tess Belde as co host.
