Ladies Aid Ass'n Meet in Bishop

The annual Mason County Lutheran Ladies Aid convention gathered at St. John's Lutheran near Bishop with 1:30 p.m. registration. Rev Seehase led devotions while Mrs Adolph Budke of Havana chaired the business session and reports came from Sand Prairie St John Bath St Paul Havana St Luke Allens Grove Christ Mason City and St Paul Manito.

Naughty Marietta Leads Open Springfield Opera Cast

Shirley Zuckerman of Springfield and French A Tickner of Fairfield are named as leads in Naughty Marietta the first 1951 season production to run July 4 to July 7. Other cast members include Sara C Smith Merritt Johnson Perrine Edward Thompson James Fletcher Jack Duffy Earl Boner Donna Marie Banks and Dr H T Crookshank all of Springfield. Rehearsals are underway with tickets $2.00 $1.50 and $1.00 and season passes $6.00 $4.50 and $3.00 available by mail from Springfield Municipal Opera 30 1/3 South 6th St Springfield.

Lutheran Ladies' League Plans Manito Convention

The Lutheran Ladies' League of St. Paul's Manito invites members to the next annual convention. The church auditorium and dining parlor featured roses in pink and white. Local Boys Attend F F A Convention at Illinois University

Eight Forman FFA members accompanied by teacher Eugene Patchett attended the FFA Judging Contest at the University of Illinois. Delegates Marvin Quick and James Meyer stayed for the convention and participated in parliamentary procedure public speaking and FFA Follies while helping their section win the softball championship. Jim Meyer placed first in District Farm and Home Beautification earning a plaque for himself and the chapter. Results in dairying livestock poultry and grain were not yet announced.

A new self propelled combine named John Deere stood on the Seelye implement lot for several days and has been sold to an Easton man. The device had been a popular novelty for many men and boys this past week and will be missed.
