Rush Accepts Superintendent Post in Rossville Illinois

John J. Rush resigns after 11 years with Forman Unit and Manito High School to lead the Rossville consolidated schools as Superintendent of both grade and high school. Conservation course for Mason County teachers starts July 16

The Mason County Soil Conservation Department, Farm Advisor, and County Superintendent of Schools offer Geography E114 Conservation of Natural Resources. It provides three semester hours of credit, runs about three weeks from July 16, with morning field trips at the Farm Bureau building in Havana. Cost is $19, instructor Dr. William Masters. Manito Merchants Ball Team traveled to Mineral Springs Park Sunday July 1 and defeated the Corn Products nine 8 to 1. Smith pitched for Manito fanning 11 with 3 walks while Trumpy toed the rubber for CPR striking out 9 and issuing 4 bases on balls. Manito tallied 2 runs in the third and 1 in the fourth. CPR scored once in the last half of the third.

Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Golden welcomed a son named Kenneth Darrell born Tuesday morning at Pekin Public Hospital. He weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces. The mother is Ruby Caulkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Caulkins, and the paternal grandmother is Mrs. Loma Van Lanningham. This is the couple’s first child.
