Steve Herrman Wins Corn Contest at Dutversky Fair

Steve Herrman won first place in District II of Minors at the corn contest with a yield of 124.8 bushels per acre. He was honored at a County Winners banquet with a wrist watch and later participated in a university radio interview with 4 H leader Mrs. Calvin Bauer and Farm Advisor C. F. Bayles.

Legion Post Hosts Citizenship Banquet and Dartball Board Plans

Representatives from the local American Legion post attended a citizenship banquet in Mason City with about 150 people. The FRA quartet from Forman high school performed. Manito and Mason City-Havana reported 100 percent membership. Yates of Peoria will bring a new dartball board and leaders to Manito on March 9 at 7 00 p.m. for Legion players meeting at the Legion hall. Retiring scoutmaster Hal Willett is thanked. Dave Reynolds becomes new scoutmaster.

Caucuses Nominate Local Officials on February 19

Both parties held caucuses Saturday afternoon February 19. Republicans nominated Louis Lussenhop for Road Commissioner who later withdrew and Harold Thompson for Justice of the Peace for an expired two year term. no constable nominated. Democrats named Glenn Williams for Road Commissioner, Raymond Jacobs for Justice of the Peace, and no constable candidate.

Ill Patient Parks Hospital Stay Ends in Recovery

An unnamed patient admitted to the Methodist Hospital Peoria for surgery over the weekend has undergone the procedure and is reported making an excellent recovery. The plan is to return home before the end of the workweek.

Forman High School D.A.R Good Citizen Winner

Miss Marie Caroline Schacherbauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schacherbauer, Rt. 2, was chosen by Forman High School students and faculty as the D.A.R Good Citizen. She is active in F.H.A cheerleading chorus and school journalism and plans to study music in college next fall.

St Pauls Lutheran Church News

The February 25 house cleaning day at the St Pauls parsonage follows interior redecorations by male members with donations. Confirmation class meets February 26 at 1 p.m. Harold J. Schlicker will be installed as pastor on March 6 with a 2:30 p.m. service and reception. A Family Pot Luck is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Janet Skinner Named Forman Homemaker of Tomorrow

Janet Skinner is Forman’s Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow after scoring highest on a written homemaking exam among senior girls. She advances to compete for the state's All-American Homemaker of Tomorrow title with a $1,500 scholarship and a school trip to Washington, Williamsburg, and Philadelphia. General Mills sponsors the program to promote homemaking careers. the national winner is announced April 21 in Philadelphia.
