Funeral Services For Arthur G Rue Held Monday

Arthur G Rue longtime Forest City resident died at Proctor Hospital Peoria after a two week illness. Born June 22 1880 in Latham Illinois he was the son of Joseph R and Louisa Hampton Rue. Survived by three sisters Helen Courtright Mackinaw IL Josie White Trenton MO and Rachel White Trenton MO. Services were at Johnson Funeral Home at 2 pm Monday with Joseph W Hobbs officiating burial in Mason City Cemetery. Hymns by Mabel Ethell and Jesse Ethell with Pearl Lee on piano. Pallbearers Earl Rochester Howard Hubbard Francis Halpin Olin Kennedy Russell Petty Russell Rickett.

Mr and Mrs Roy V Eidman of Davenport Indiana visited the former's father George Eidmann and other relatives over the weekend in a family gathering noted by local residents.

Girl Scout Story Hour Pleases Local Troop

The Senior Girl Scout Troop held a weekly story hour on Friday afternoon with stories games and refreshments. Members include Marilee Smith Patty Faulkner Gary Gumbel Donnie McCraith Butch Zimmerman Randy Maas and guests Mike Smith Joseph McCraith Cheryl McCraith. Leaders Lorrene Estes and Clea Rae Hawkins. Next week Joeanne Tisdale and Anna Lee Proehl will lead. One more story hour is planned for Friday the 21st 1953.

Polio Patient Nancy Hasselburg Admitted In Peoria

Five year old Nancy Hasselburg daughter of Mr and Mrs Burton Hasselburg of Peoria was admitted to St Frances hospital with polio. Two siblings Ricky and Micheal in the home received the new anti polio serum. Nancy is the former Barbara Starretts daughter and well known locally.

Mr and Mrs Stuart Thomas spent Sunday in Bradford visiting Dr and Mrs S Apathy and family. The doctor and his family are comfortably located in Bradford and Dr Apathy is affiliated with the hospital nearby.

Birth of Douglas Jay Hervoz in Norfolk Virginia

Relatives announce the birth of a 7 lb 8 oz son to Lt and Mrs Al Hervoz of Norfolk Virginia. The baby boy is named Douglas Jay. Mrs Hervoz is former Carolyn Beimfohr, daughter of Ephriam and Mrs Beimfohr of Hennepin. The grandmother traveled by plane to Norfolk for an extended stay. Rebecca Beimfohr is the great grandmother.

Three Injured In Auto Truck Collision Near Manito

Wednesday morning a car carrying Sam Kastner his wife Bessie 60 and Mrs Lottie Sullivan 66 collided with a truck on the Manito Green Valley gravel road. Mrs Kastner had a deep ear laceration a brain concussion and shock. Mrs Sullivan had shock a concussion and possible rib fracture. Mr Kastner received a left knee injury a scalp laceration and rib abrasions. The truck driver was not injured. The injured were taken to Pekin hospital.
