The Manito Methodist Church youth plan a Sunrise Service in the Sanctuary at 6 45 a m with the minister Rev Powell delivering the Easter message public is invited After the service a breakfast served by the church women at 7 45 a m attendees are asked to bring bacon eggs and sweet rolls past events drew good interest and attendance
Mason County launches 1953 American Cancer Society drive targeting a 1500 dollar goal up from 1250 last year. Miss Helen Rankin, county chairwoman, urges donations to bolster research and education as national deaths rise. Enrollments in Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans will be discussed at an April 9 meeting at Easton High School with county leaders and volunteers.
Union Center Community Club held its March 19 meeting with a pot luck supper and a thirty minute program of accordion selections by Mrs. Schoonover and pupils. Patriotic recitations were given by Forsythe Kreiling Kennedy and others. Carla Irwin dedicated the flag donated by Elsie White.
On Saturday April 11 1953 an election will be held at the Anna Galvin residence Route No 2 Manito Illinois for one school trustee for Township 23 North Range 7 West for a six year term. Polls open 12 noon and close 2 PM by order of the trustees of Schools Township 23 7 west of the 3rd Principal Meridian.

Mr and Mrs Wilbert Hill celebrate 1929 anniversary. Mr and Mrs Roy Seelye mark 1924 last week. Mr and Mrs Chester Clauser observe 1929 milestones. Mr and Mrs Fred J Warner recall 1906. Mr and Mrs George Ethell honor 1945. Mr and Mrs Vincent Runyon observe 1934 anniversary.
The Forest City American Legion Post 1190 will hold its regular meeting Thursday evening April 2 at the Community Hall where 35 year pins will be awarded. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. The Ladies Aid will sponsor a food sale Saturday April 4 at Rickett Grain and Feed Store starting 1:30. Donations and patronage are appreciated.
The 1953 election at Town Hall Manito Illinois will elect one School Trustee for Township 23 North Range 6 West for a six year term. Polls open 1:00 PM close 4:00 PM. Burton Guengrich assists in porch remodeling at Cleve Shelabarger property in Manito where his son Bill resides. Mr and Mrs Carl Coombs of Pekin were Sunday visitors in Louis Coombs home.
The group states that health care will not be held for at least another year. They believe offering Blue Cross and Blue Shield membership to Mason County residents is a key step for improving community health and meeting their goals.
Funeral services were held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church for Mrs Kate A Hilst 80 who died at her daughter’s Peoria home. Born August 5 1872 in Green Valley she married Peter J Hilst in 1891. Survived by two daughters six sons a sister 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Burial Meadow Lawn Cemetery.
The senior class play We Shook the Family Tree will be staged in Forman Gym Manila at 8:00 p.m. on Friday April 10. Cast includes Hildegrade Carolyn Warner Mrs Dolson Ronald Thomas Betty Meyer Sally Risen Joy Bob Woiwode Dennis Jimmy Le Roy James Ellie May Arla Jean Foste Jill Eloise Whitaker Freddie Shhermer Parker Lawks Mr Shermer Fred Freidrich Mrs Shermer Eloise Wahlfield Paige Carol Whitaker and Forman Grade student. Set in the Dolson living room during spring prom time. Mrs Lawlis and cast aided by Mr LeCount and other committees.
Mason County Board of Supervisors at the March meeting introduced a resolution for county aid to build a bridge over the Mason Tazewell drainage ditch in Manito Township. The $28,000 structure would receive half in county aid funded from Motor Fuel Tax money, located about two miles south of St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
