Pekin area residents gathered for Easter visits and family meals with friends in Forest City Delavan Abingdon Green Valley and Washington D C. People mentioned include Mrs Lawrence Hidman Mrs Charles Vaughin Mr and Mrs Hal Willett Mr and Mrs Elmer Bartell Mr and Mrs J A Seelye Mr and Mrs Henry Theilen and many others in extended family and lodge circles. Easter baptisms and births were noted along with a Royal N A meeting at the W S Maloney home.
Beginning Wednesday at 7 30 p m special evangelistic services begin at Spring Lake Church and run nightly except Monday through April 26 Rev and Mrs Blanchard Amstutz lead with vocal duets cornet solos Hammond organ pieces scene efelt lessons and gospel preaching Mrs Amstutz a talented musician accompanies with a Hammond organ and sings contralto solos The couple brings wide evangelistic experience and strong ministry credentials Everyone is invited to attend and share in the blessings Also notes Harold Selke and family plan to move to Peoria Illinois after living in Pendleton Oregon
The Manito Methodist Church reports Sunday School at 9 45 a m with D J Powell minister and F E Bender superintendent The Easter attendance set a record and aims to maintain it through spring and summer Morning Worship at 10 35 a m features organist George Ethell Youth Choir Laura Crafton and anthem selections The sermon discusses Christian experience The fourth quarterly conference is set for 2 00 p m Sunday April 19 with Dr Temple in charge Officials and members are invited to attend and plans for the new year will be discussed
Forman Sr High School hosted Athens and Mason City at the local athletic field on Thursday April 9. Pat Lynch and Ron Thomas led field events and sprints while the team emphasized collective scoring as Athens and Mason City trailed Forman with final tallies in the 100 yard dash and other events.
Spring Lake Church outlines revival focus in Sunday worship with 10 45 morning service. Lord send a revival theme recurs as revival meetings begin Wednesday at 7 30 pm led by Rev and Mrs Blanchard Amstutz and staff with nightly services through April 26.
St Pauls Lutheran Church lists Sunday School at 9 30 a m and Divine Service at 10 20 a m Minister O A Borchelt notes Mr and Mrs W M Maloney spent last Thursday night and Good Friday in Chicago.
Palm Sunday and Easter baptisms marked by Rev. D J Powell. Infants and children plus one adult baptized. New members James Bernshausen and Robert Durham transferred from Grace and Bartonville churches. Easter added Vicki Perrill Gary Callaway Jean Clea Hawkins Bernard Perrill. Eighteen baptisms this conference year.
A total of 563 votes were cast in the Township Election held Tuesday April 7 with both parties fielding candidates. Precinct I and II reported results for Supervisor Assessor Clerk Justice of the Peace and Constables with the new board totals listing Hirst Behrends Lee Wistehoff Hamilton Bernshausen Schimmelpfenning Zimmerman Cole and Radefeld. Party ballot totals show 31 Democrat ballots in Precinct I 32 in Precinct II and 32 Republican ballots in Precinct II and 64 in I.
The Manito Youth for Christ will hold its monthly rally this Saturday at 7 30 p m in Forman Gymnasium. Rev William Whitehead of East Peoria will speak on youth ministry and pastoral work with special music from local churches. The event, normally the first Saturday, was postponed one week for Easter activities. A cordial welcome and fellowship await attendees.
Mrs Ruth Parkins and children spent Sunday with Evelyn Tim brook and son. Mrs Mary Barnes of Normal and Mrs Lillie Sadler of Bloomington were Tues evening guests of Mrs Pearl Neikirk. Mrs Ties Velde and Mrs James Seelye were in Pekin Monday to visit Mr Velde. He is reported slowly improving. A family dinner was enjoyed at the home of Mr and Mrs James Seelye Easter. Guests for the day included Dr Clyde Ulrich Peoria and Mr and Mrs Wayne Wistehuff and sons.
