Mandowa Shire Proposes Local Tax and Rating Reform
Resolutions for the Shire of Mandowa to submit at the Shires Association Conference in Sydney in April urge amending Local Government Act Section 130 to raise the rate limit from 2d to 6d in the pound, enabling councils to set higher rates without repeated proclamations. It also seeks to raise monthly Pay Roll Tax exemptions for Shire and Municipal Councils from £86 18s 4d to £176 6s 8d, arguing payroll taxes burden non profit local government activities.
