Driving Under Influence Fined in Manilla Court
Frank Warden appeared in the Manilla Court of Petty Sessions on a Wednesday and was fined £16 10s on two charges for driving under the influence and lacking a valid licence. The officer testified to the incident at about 4:30 pm near the Royal Hotel, noting Warden’s unsteadiness and breath smell of liquor. Witnesses described the vehicle’s brakes as faulty, though a later check found them in good order. Warden offered a bond argument under section 556A of the Crimes Act, which the S.M. refused. The case against Patrick Creen was adjourned to March 26.
