Manatee County Commissioners meet in Bradenton on January 7 1907. J B Wyatt presides with M Davis W Baxter H Whitaker A Hull and M H Wyatt present. They select 800 juror names for 1907 approve expenses for The Manatee Record Cedar Hammock drain and state fair service payments and adjourn sine die.
Minutes of the Mana Tee County Commissioners meeting held in Bradentown on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January 1907. J B Wyatt was elected chairman, M Davis chaired briefly, and bonds for county officers were reviewed with J J Stewart required to file a new bond.
Manatee Chapter No 19 Eastern Star elected officers last week with Mrs M L Gates as Worthy Matron and Dr J M Samuel as Worthy Patron Also named were Leila Kepple as Associate Matron E M Gates as Secretary R A Willemsen as Treasurer Charlotte Curry Conductress O M Clark Associate Conductress Chester DeRoch er Sentinel Laura Stevens Wards Jennie DeRocher Adah Hannah Lloyd Esther Maud Vanderipe Martha Euphemia Johnson Electa Florida Curry The grand Worthy Matron will visit January 22 with all members urged to attend.

The Manatee County Board of Public Instruction convened January 8 1907 with A F Wyman as chairman and W M Rowlett as secretary. They approved Dec 4 1906 minutes, planned a $75 purchase of lab equipment for the County High School, fixed the superintendent’s salary at 1000 annually, audited accounts totaling 2674 61 and adjourned to February 5 1907.

The Record reports the new Methodist parsonage in Manatee, soon home to Pastor W. Norton and family. Nine rooms plus baths and closets, with a fire placed parlour and French beveled glass mantle. Henry Curry defeated A F Wy man for mayor by 16 votes. First ward elected O C Evans and Wm Richman to council. second ward elected D W Turner and B Gorwin unopposed. third ward chose R T Thomas and Josiah Warn. Harry Wadham won councilman at large. R K Trimble became treasurer, Lewis Lawrence again clerk and assessor, O H McGinty chosen collector.

The Royal Arch Masons of the Manatee river held a festival at the Murphy block lodge room in Bradentown last Friday night. Officers for the coming year were installed and work in the degrees performed with refreshments served. S. E. Curry as High Priest and Chas. T. Curry as King led a list of new officers with J. M. Samuel treasurer and Rk. Trimble secretary among others.
The Mana tee Junior High School opened January 10 with eighty five attendance growing to ninety in week two. The primary department is crowded with forty three pupils. teachers urge regular attendance and no outs for sickness. They plan a library society with Friday exercises and a school library funded by nominal public dues to buy books and sustain a permanent library.
