The Manatee county board met in regular session with a full slate of members, the old board's terms expired and the same members began a new two year term. The entire old board was re-elected in a rare showing of continuity and praised for faithful service.

The Masonic lodge of Braden town held a Friday night installation of officers with many Masons present from Manatee. Third degree work occurred and refreshments followed. Manatee Lodge No 65 Knights of Pythias publicly installed its officers on Thursday night with many ladies and visitors present. Past Chancellor J. E. Peacock presided. Chancellor Commander M. G. Rushton led the ceremony. other officers included Vice-Chancellor Joe Gates Jr Prelate Geo W Barker Master of the Work E L Vanderipe Master of Exchecquer R H Johnson Keeper of Records and Seal and Master of Finance Walter Scott Outer Guard J E Peacock. Claude Gates and Elmer Curry were excused and will be installed later. Refreshments followed.

Thursday night last week the Woodmen of the World installed officers in the stone Bradenton lodge room before a large crowd. Souverin Wright of Tampa led the ceremony naming Consul Commander L. W. Amlong and other officers including Advisor Lieutenant M. M. Shirley and Banker Charles Duckwall. Afterward talks were given and an opening for a baker was noted in the address record.
Real estate agent A. E. Stebins, owner at Glacis Park, told the Record this week the plan is to clean the park thoroughly. Streets and avenues will be cut, the court improved, and rubbish and undergrowth cleared to the river to create an ideal picnic ground on a beautiful riverfront point.
The annual stockholders meeting of the Manatee Banking Company was held Tuesday January 8. Directors elected were C. H. Davis K. W. Wiggins R. M. Glazier D. M. Dowdell J. R. Chambliss E. M. Thorpe T. J. Brooks. Directors then elected officers J. H. Davis president K. W. Wiggins vice president T. J. Brooks cashier Perry R. Curry assistant cashier.

The Manatee Sunday School reports at the 1906 annual conference that it raised 201 dollars during the year, with an early start this year a Sunday afternoon drive bringing in about 40 dollars, reflecting credit on Supt. R. H. Johnson and the teachers.

After a two weeks holiday Mamatee Junior High School opened Monday to the new term. Teachers report the term so far among the best in the school's history and urge patron cooperation to sustain further advancement through the term.

Despite a cold snap and dry spell, the Land of the Manatee shows favorable conditions. Oranges and younger trees suffered but prices are expected to rise next year, offsetting losses. vegetable output will be shorter but higher prices may benefit growers overall.

The Record reports with regret that Treasurer J W Nettles remains largely improved if at all. He was taken to Tampa last week for specialist care and it is hoped treatment will aid his recovery. Jim Nettles Jr Registration Officer visited Manatee and said the father’s illness affects his threat.
The editor plans a visit next week to inspect the new parsonage and publish a detailed write up. The preacher urges candid public commentary, and the paper says it will follow his request as usual.

A. S. Walters and his wife and sister from Ohio Ill arrived last week and will spend time in Manatee. Walters is a proprietor of Glacier Park, noted as one of the prettiest points on the Manatee river.
