County board met January 6 1908 with J B Wyatt M C Davis A F Hull and W M Baxter. Treasurer Walpole reported fund balances and warrants were drawn. jurors for 1908 were selected. road and oyster petitions were deferred or granted. appointments and arbitrations arranged. session adjourned to February.
The Bradentown Drug Co. buys the Samuel storefront and renames it Manatee Drug Store. The store is being remodeled, stocked with the best prescriptions, delivers promptly, and will carry periodicals and magazines. They promise full service and to source items from Bradenton if needed.
Weather record from Manatee by cooperation with the U S Weather Bureau notes weekly observations ending January 4 1908. Public advisory includes stray promotional text about a local business and product ads.
County Court convened at 10 a m with Judge J J Stewart presiding and officers ready for business. Criminal dockets receive priority as jurors are sworn and two panels formed. Many cases end in guilty pleas and convictions, promising to boost county finances and likely extend through Saturday.

John Ferguson hiked out Tuesday night to shoot a large four pronged buck about twelve miles east of Manatee. The deer was brought down around 9 o clock Wednesday morning and Ferguson returned with his game by afternoon. A crowd gathered at Wiggins store to view the monarch of the wastes.
The Florida orange market remained weak with little demand amid poor fruit condition due to wet weather. Ordinary fruit sold 1.25 to 2.75 dollars, sound fruit 1.50 to 2, fancy Indian River 2.50 to 3, grapefruit scarce 4 to 6.50, lettuce glut kept prices low, beans, peppers, and tomatoes varied, berries scarce and mostly 25 to 40 cents.
The Manatee Banking Company held its annual stockholders meeting with nearly all shares represented. The report showed a prosperous year despite the financial panic. Cashier Emery E. Johnson and Assistant Cashier Perry R. Curry were reelected to their posts as officers. Directors elected include R. H. Johnson, K. W. Wiggins, R. M. Glazier, R. B. Johnson, Mrs. R. H. Johnson, E. E. Johnson, and Perry R. Curry.
The Press Association of Manatee county held a Monday afternoon gathering at Bradenton with C. V. S. Wilson J. W. Bell J. A. Humphries and Frank A. Walpole present. After adjournment editors were entertained by Editor and Mrs Joseph H. Humphries at a six o clock dinner on Ware's creek. The group discussed newspaper matters and jokingly debated wealth from publishing.
Manatee county board of public instruction meets in regular session. Treasurer Frank A Walpole presents December 1907 school fund receipts and expenditures totaling $1,214.85 with ending balance $482.21. warrants totaling $2,017.45 paid. votes on consolidating Miakka and Maple Branch schools and Tyre Creek closure referred to trustees. deed for Lot 4 in Ballards addition Bradenton filed.
Mrs. T. M. McDuffee, whose serious illness was reported last week, is nearing death. Doctors say there is no hope for recovery and death could come at any hour, relieving her of suffering.
The toast honored each editor with wit and humor as the editors bade good-night to Mr and Mrs Humphries. The Association will meet in Palmetto on Monday after next with Editor Bell hosting a 6 o'clock dinner for members.
