Gill Captured After Chase From Sarasota to Bowling Green

Sheriff Hans Wyatt earned praise for rapid pursuit across multiple towns to arrest Arthur Gill, suspected of murdering Jim Fletcher near Sarasota during Christmas week. The Manatee Cigar Factory produced more than 90 000 cigars in the previous year, up from over 10 000 the year before. First County Meeting of 1908 Sets Jury List

The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session Monday in bad weather. Four members were present as they examined bonds, drew the 1908 jury list for county and circuit court, and discussed requests to hold a special term for the Tom Smith and Arthur Gill murder case, deciding against it due to costs and upcoming court sessions. The board adjourned to the first Monday in February.
