Missiles Topic at Silver Gily Woman’s Club Talk

The October meeting of the Silver City Woman's Club was held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist church parlors with 18 members and 18 guests. Mrs. Haymond Bern, program chairman, introduced Lt White from the missile base near Treynor, who gave a talk and showed a film on missiles. Attendees included Mesdames Term Schoening, Kenneth McMaron, Allie Shumston, Agnes Voss, LeRp Pullman and Ralph Skerritt.

Anniversary party with many guests in Glenwood area

Mrs Lee Kepple and Floyd Blackman hosted a party for their guests celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary. Self invited attendees brought pie ice cream and coffee. Several relatives and neighbors from Omaha Glenwood Emerson Des Moines and Tabor joined in the event at various gatherings throughout the weekend.

Schmidt family confirms 3rd generation on Anderson Farm

The Schmidt family plans to take possession of the 24 acre Anderson farm southwest of Malvern on March 1 as the third generation to live there. The late Robert Anderson bought the farm in 1594 from William Bennett. Mrs. Schmidt previously acquired her sister's share of the late Sam Anderson farm and will move March first. Local residents, relatives, and neighbors gathered for visits and meals over the weekend, with multiple families mentioned including the Rhoades, Myers, Haney, Stepling, and Bass households.

Hillsdale MYEF Hosts Early Halloween Party at Blackman Farm

Hillsdale church youth group MYEF held an early Hallowe en event at the Harald Blackman farm featuring a wiener roast and dancing. Representatives from twenty six Red Oak, Tabor, Malvern, and Glenwood families attended, with music from records and local residents leading. Families including Glickman and Maney, Britten, Kep ple, Blackman, Kingery, Schmidt, Haines, and Alberts were among guests during a social evening of supper, visits, and dancing.

Overheated Fat Causes Burns in Kitchen Fire

Mrs. Michard Pass received painful burns Thursday while cooking when overheated fat sparked a kitchen blaze. In attempting to move the fire out, Mrs. Bass burned her right hand more severely. A fire extinguisher stopped the flame, limiting damage to floor, cupboards, and walls. Burns are healing and neighbors wish her a speedy recovery.

Saturday Evenings Guests From Shenandoah Glenwood Area

Mr and Mrs Opal Irwin and Diane and Jarry visited former neighbors Claude Gibbler Sharon and Linda in Shenandoah for supper. They called on cousins Mrs Ella Norman and Terri Swigler in Glenwood then joined Mr and Mrs Clifford Barrett near Glenwood for supper and evening. Mr and Mrs Richard Bass and Douglas visited Austin Bass. Mr and Mrs Glen Bolte and Charlene attended long time friends Ernest Decker’s golden wedding at the Baptist church in AmErgon. A heavy rain Friday night slowed farm work as moisture remained high and corn picking proceeds for farmers.
