Spotlight on the Social Scene UMW Pins Awarded to Two Members
Malvern UMW met at the church Oct. 7 with 26 members and four guests. Jessie Wearin presided. Ruth Adkins and Genevieve Payne were to receive special pins. Adkins was absent. Mary Anna Hunt and Mae Rabbitt spoke as pin recipients from last year. Genevieve’s pin was pinned by Clara Stevens with Jessie assisting. Zelma Wortman led the program and invited Mrs. Stella Lisle to speak on Luxembourg. A brass vase was given to the church in memory of Mary Smith by her parents. Parsonage drapes will be hung Oct. 8 and carpet laid in the ladies dressing room soon. Rev. Cowell announced a turkey supper Nov. 16. Bettie Campbell and Florence Bowen hosted lunch on a fall-decorated table.

At a Glenwood meeting the Mills County Arts Council elected officers for the coming year. President Virginia Stinard of Glenwood, Vice President Phyllis Frederickson of Malvern, Treasurer Anita Bichel of Glenwood, and Treasurer Mavis Echting of Glenwood were installed. Members set annual dues at 5 dollars per person and discussed future projects. Next meeting is Tuesday Nov 4 at 7 30 p m with location to be announced. The Bill Rowe family of Glenwood will present the program.

Gipes Complete Color Photo Seminar in Minneapolis
Mr and Mrs Emmett Gipe of Gipe Studio Glenwood Mills county returned home after attending an advanced color photography printing and processing seminar in Minneapolis. The Gipes said they sought methods to deliver higher quality photographs to customers. The sessions were sponsored by Nord Photo Engineering Inc and offered free to professional photographers.
