LaVerne C. Obrecht and Barbara J. Buffington of Mills County Extension joined Professional Improvement Day at Iowa State University in Ames. Sponsored by the ISU Extension Association, the program featured How To Use Radio and short seminars by Sue Kine Jack Shelly Whitey Buller Jerry Bretey and Virginia Harding. Extension staff led seminars on home economics agriculture 4-H youth and community resource development to share new ideas for informing subject matter.

Mills County Woman Receives VIP Award at Jefferson–Jackson Dinner

Mrs. Palmer of Glenwood, with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Palmer and Phil Palmer, attended the Ames event Saturday. She was one of ten in the state to receive a VIP award from the state Democratic party for Outstanding Achievement in voter identification and voter registration in Mills County over the past three years, presented by U.S. Senator John Culver. Mrs. Palmer credited Mills County volunteers for the achievement.
