Henderson community notes report regional Republican women meeting in Des Moines. Hosts entertained at card clubs with high scores and dinners. Cub Scouts toured a nearby missile base, church groups held meetings, and several residents visited hospitals, attended fairs, and planned events for November including a W S C S dinner.
Tabor college choir members spent Thursday night with Grace Bowen Helen Winchester and Fred Roeder. They sang at Nishna Valley school. August Duysen and family vacationed in Fargo with Nick Daysen teaching at North Dakota State University. Community notices include visits by Williams families and a CB radio club meeting in Stanion with plans for a Hustlers dance in Council Bluffs.
4-H News reports Future Feeders 4-H Club met October 4 at Larry Stouder home with Chris Cozad co-host. Fourteen members answered roll call. Three new members joined Warren Sayers Walter Angus and Kenneth Dixon. Officers elected: President Bob Johnson Vice President Larry Stouder Secretary Scott Sayers Treasurer Dwaine Swett Historian Myron Morvieal Reporter Doug Christiansen. Silver Cloud Jr 4-H Club held a surprise party for retiring leaders Mrs Robert Hopp and Mrs Clyde Shook September 29 at Mrs Hopp home. Jewelry gifts given. Pat Trively Christine Shook Joyce Stephens Linda Barber Jill Sell Mary Beth Costello attended. The two clubs will merge. new leaders Mrs Alva Henderson and Mrs Charles Ellison. East Liberty residents list visits from family friends across Shenandoah Malvern Red Oak and Council Bluffs. A Sunday service led by Rev Pullman is noted. Roadwork progress and winter hardships easing. Local arrivals include Parker Hunt and Stotts gatherings with multiple relatives and neighbors. Russell Howell remains unconscious after a Friday night car crash. Carl Hurst funeral attendance noted.
Mrs Ethel Shafer and Dorothy hosted the East Liberty WSCS Thursday at Malvern with guest speaker Mrs Homer Mayberry arranging for Mrs Barton from Glenwood to attend. President Mrs Hugh Hayes led reports and bills. Lillie Sowers leaves for Florida. Rev Pullman honored for his Oct 12 birthday. Lunch was served. next meeting set for Nov 3.
Harvest Home at East Liberty will be observed on Sunday November 7. Committees will be named later with additional information to follow. Visitors noted include Mrs Ruth Kelley and Mr and Mrs Lester Hollingsworth and Rita of Red Oak at the Claude and Ernett Stephens home. Mrs Phoebe Goodell was their supper guest Thursday evening and Mrs Lillian Sowers was entertained Friday evening.
Carter Raymond Bartholomew born October 4 1909 in Sidney died October 6 1965 in Glenwood at 56. Survived by wife Pearl Cozad and twin sons Kevin Bruce and Kent Curtis. Funeral held October 9 at Mansfield Funeral Home with Odd Fellows rites, interment in Malvern Cemetery.
