Mr and Mrs W R Bingham will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday December 7 with an open house in the Malvern Community building hosted by their children. Friends are invited to call between 2 and 5 pm. The couple requests no gifts.
Mrs. Keith Powell of Red Oak announces the engagement of her daughter Gayle Askey to David E Needs, son of Mrs. Cordice Needs of Malvern. Miss Askey attends Neftcle ton Business College in Omaha while Mr. Needs is to depart soon for Vietnam. No definite wedding date has been set.
Miss Terry Jones bride elect of Karl Hertz was honored at a miscellaneous shower Sunday afternoon at St John’s Lutheran Church. Thirty six guests enjoyed the game 50 with prizes to Donna Knop Lenore Hertz and the honoree. Tables featured red streamers and candles with artificial white poinsettias.

Mr and Mrs Jack elutelier and Linda received a phone call Sunday evening from Trobert Gittins in Hawaii where he is on a week of rest and recreation after serving in Vietnam His wife Marlene of Council Bluffs flew to Taiwan to meet him for Thanksgiving week Mr and Mrs Jack Bowen and Doug and Mr and Mrs Albert Seipuld were guests of the Fletchers and wished Bob a happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas Many expressed gratitude for the blessings and the pre holiday gathering
Mills countrians attending the Republican state dinner last Wednesday where Art Linkletter spoke included Senator Earl Bass, Paul Thompson of Glenwood, Jane Paul of Henderson and Carolyn Washburn of Hastings. They reported being impressed by Linkletter on the topic of narcotics among youth.
Sunday near Glenwood a small foreign car driven by Arthur J. Pederson lost control and slid into a ditch. Pederson escaped injury while passenger Doug suffered a bruised knee.
Marvin Swobota and Lee Blackman depart November 20 for boot camp at the Naval Training Center Great Lakes. Marvin is the son of Mr and Mrs Dan Swoboda and Lee’s parents are Mr and Mrs Wayne Blackman.

Larry L Williams, a NW Missouri State sophomore at Maryville, reports four Iowa students suffered losses when a thief entered Douglas Hall. Williams lost two watches a ring a bedspread and other items valued at 215 dollars while Roger D Vanatta lost a radio. Williams notes similar thefts occurred last year.
