Funeral services for Thomas Robert Rafferty were held at Mansfield Funeral Home. Born 1931 in Malvern, he died 1965 en route to hospital after a heart attack. He served in the Marines, married Mary McLaughlin in 1953, and left behind three daughters, a wife, two sisters, a brother, and many relatives. Interment with military rites followed in Silver City cemetery.

Speeding Charge After 275 Sideswipe Accident
Donald Graalfs of Glenwood suffered ear and knee injuries when his car and a truck driven by Carl Team of St Joseph collided on a curve of highway 275 during a midnight rain shower. Graalfs was charged with speeding, fined 25 dollars plus costs by Justice Ernest Timmerman. Estimated damages totaled 750 dollars to Graalfs car and about 400 dollars to the truck. Sheriff’s office provided the report.

Glenwood Man, 41, Charged with Rape
Marl Chester Bird Jr., 41, of Glenwood, was charged with forcible rape. He remained in Mills County jail this week in lieu of a $20,000 bond after being bound over to district court.

Bluffs Driver Fined 30 for Speeding in Council Bluffs
Ernest North of Council Bluffs was fined 30 dollars plus costs by Justice of Peace Ernest Timmerman for speeding. Others fined for speeding include Danny Garst of Tabor 14 dollars, and Mary Alice Cotter of Tabor and Keith Alley of Glenwood 10 dollars each. Ellis Unger of Malvern was fined 6 dollars for no operator's license. George A. Joneson of Sedalia was fined 20 dollars for improper passing.
