Six Mills countians joined a Mills county delegation led by Gordon Axtell at the national NFO convention in St. Louis on December 1 and 2. Axtell hailed it as the greatest farm convention with 10,000 delegates from 25 states and noted NFO bargaining boosted hog prices by 4 per cwt and cattle by 2 per cwt. Natl NFG President Oren Lee Staley said six of the nation's 15 largest meat processors work with NFO marketing. Delegates from Mills included Marion Fender Leo May Neil Bentley Walter Knop and Dean Fender. Theme was Successful bargaining the NFO way.
