Golden wedding anniversary reception for Mr and Mrs Smith

Mr and Mrs Thomas Smith of Tabor Iowa will be honored by their children at a golden wedding anniversary reception at their rural home on Sunday May 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. They were married May 1 1925 in Glenwood and have lived in Mills and Fremont counties most of their lives. Children Naomi Smith Norma Leffingwell Jerry Nor folk Vern Lewis and Dwight of Tabor and Clara Nebelsick of Nebraska City invite friends and neighbors to call. A plant sale and silver coffee bake sale accompany events May 2 at Beattie Building with proceeds supporting a Bicentennial tree planting project near the swimming pool block. The meeting noted appreciation for help from Pres ton Grissom and LaVerne Obrecht. Jessie Frazier spoke on the Metric System.

Grand Officers Visit Malvern Chapter Apr 26

Silver Urn Chapter No. 168 Eastern Star Malvern will host Worthy Grand Matron Mrs. Paul Messenger and Worthy Grand Patron F. Gilbert Mote and Grand Officers on Saturday April 26 1975 at Liberty Memorial Building. Degrees shown at 7 30 p.m. ESTARL grants totaling over 200 000 have aided Iowa students since 1953 with thirty 500 awards and one 300 memorial gift this year. Applications due June 1 1975.

Garden Club Plans Bi centennial Project in Malvern

Malvern Garden club met April 8 at Mrs. Raburn Benton’s home with a large group present. Final plans were made for a bi centennial project to honor the town’s history and community spirit.

May Fellowship Day Speaker Is Sheriff Brown

Mills County Church Women United announced the May Fellowship on May 2 at Glenwood Congregational church with a coffee at 9 am and an informational meeting 9:30 to 10:30. Sheriff Merle Brown will be guest speaker focusing on women and the prison system.

Beta Beta Met in Rural Tabor Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter Meeting

The April gathering of the Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met at Mrs. Margaret Winkler's home near Tabor with Miss Elaine Leeka as co-hostess. Mrs. Flora Bruce led the meeting as chapter president. Betty Wright presented a paper on Expanding Personal Involvement and Leeka reviewed the chapter’s first year of heritage.

Birthday celebration marks twelve initiates in 1968

The Leader notes that twelve members were initiated then, five charter members attended the birthday event. Delicous refreshments fit the theme served by hostesses. A no host breakfast is set for Shenandoah on June 4 at 9 a.m. Malvern attendees include Mrs Vera Cronkhite Mrs Elva Hoover and Mrs Cleta Salyers.
