Western Normal College Burns in Shenandoah Iowa
A large fire destroyed Western Normal College in Shenandoah on April 7, causing about 75000 in losses. The jointly used high school building, owned by the independent school district and insured for 35000, burned after starting in the hoister room. The blaze jeopardizes plans for a state normal and follows a 1892 rebuild. President F F Garrett notes 175 winter term students. 125 high school pupils used the building. bonds had backed a new 160000 grade and high school structure.

Death of Wd Savage Near Tabor Reported
A March 29 death near Tabor shocks the community as Wd Savage a well known farmer living three miles south is found dead in a tool house with a bullet hole in the temple. He was a widower and had been dead several hours when discovered.

Tragic accidental rifle mishap ends in death at home
Fifty year old Fred Savage disappeared Thursday morning while working at his home. Neighbor searches found his body in the tool house where the rifle had apparently discharged accidentally. Dr Miller and Coroner Lovelady were summoned to the inquest which supported the accidental firing explanation.
