Death of Tabor Pioneer in His Eighty Third Year
Civil War veteran TM Myers died at home of his daughter Mrs. A A Baggs in Tabor Iowa on a Wednesday evening in his eighty third year from bronchial trouble. He served three years in Battery HH Twenty third New York volunteers. He is survived by three daughters Mrs Carrie M Higgins Topeka Kansas Mrs A A Biggs of Tabor Mrs Nellie M Gray of Golden Plain Saskatchewan Canada and Almond Myers of Idaho. Funeral held Friday at 2 30 p m at the Methodist church with Rev I D Conaway and Rev D L Yale officiating.

The Stevesson farm a mile south of Malvern known as the old S W Montgomery farm sold last week to George W Strohl for 225 dollars per acre. It comprises 157 acres totaling 35326 dollars. Mrs L C Stevenson sells and will remain on the land this year while rent continues. possession passes next March. Mills County land values rise with crop prices.

Last Sunday at the Christian Church proved one of the congregation's best days with record Bible School attendance and large crowds at eleven o clock service and 3 pm and evening meetings. A lunch in the basement followed and pledges paid the entire indebtedness for painting and repairs. Mortgage burning to occur during evening services led by Mrs. Jane Francis with refreshments and reception for new members scheduled through Thursday.

Prof J J Watters of Ames College and Jas W Carter visited Malvern and other towns promoting the Boys acre corn growing contest and pig feeding contest plus garden and canning clubs for girls. Carter named county and district managers with prizes for best acre, best pig, and top state honors funded by local banks and Silver Grange. Eligibility spans ages ten to eighteen on January 1 1917.
