George Barnes killed in Canyon City
George Barnes a well known local lawyer who resided in Prineville for 11 years was shot and killed by George Anderson in Canyon City after a street encounter. Barnes aged about 60 left a family of grown children. The motive centered on Barnes' wife formerly Mrs. Alex Bowsman. Anderson had pursued his suit against her former husband and vowed revenge.
