Wool Sale at Madras Draws Wide Buyer Interest

The Madras wool sale drew 15 buyers and 450000 pounds sold at mainly 12 to 14 cents. McCallister’s lot led with 15000 pounds at around 5.8 cents, prices rising amid private sales and a large future clip from Bill Brown. Local officials praised the warehouse management for a successful event with traders including Breese, Daly, Houston, Browns & Woolen Mills, and Dufour among others. Deschutes Railway well to supply depot and Agency Plain ranches

A Deschutes Railway company well being drilled by Central Oregon Well Drilling at Madras aims to 1000 feet depth with 700 feet probable to tap water for the depot and nearby ranchers. The Gateway well previously poured water from 210 feet to near the surface and continues rising, suggesting artesian potential with deeper drilling.
