Farmers, merchants and residents of Madras area are described in a string of brief notes. Secretary Stanley of Deschutes Irrigation and Power Company and Mr. Hopkins of Hopkins Browning & Co visited Lees in town on Friday en route to the irrigated district at Bend for talks on regional development and water rights.
At the annual meeting 37 voters and taxpayers attended. Director John Isham was elected unopposed as a board member. Officers approved minutes and the clerk’s financial statement. Directors will consult carpenters on new plans. a meeting at the school house next Saturday evening will accept or reject them.
A delegation of Farriman interests leaders traveled from Madras by auto-car to inspect the route from Shaniko to Bend. The party includes O R N General Manager O'Brien Chief Engineer G W Boschke and other executives from the Oregon Rail Road and Navigation Company and Columbia Southern Railway.
