A mass gathering on Armistice Day at the local house heard entertainment plans and a program led by committees chaired by individuals such as AON and Steele. The event featured soldiers and sailors and honored veterans with a lively reception and speeches from community members and teachers.

Two automobile tires were found Thursday in a corn shock on M. Roark farm near Colchester. Henry Anders, who rents Roark land, reported the tires to the sheriff after discovering them while shucking corn. Mud on the tires suggested they had been used as spares and removed from a car.
Mr and Mrs Sim Price arrive in Augusta at noon after three weeks visiting relatives in the west. They visited Mr Price s uncle George Price in Ximeron Kansas where the uncle runs a general store and is doing well.

Armed guards patrol the International and Great Northern yards in Huston as 150 union trainmen walk out. In San Antonio 250 brakemen and switchmen join the strike. The Tremont and Gulf operates open shop despite a labor board ruling. The Interstate Commerce Commission orders wheat and hay rate cuts by half the 1920 increase, also reducing coarse grain tariffs and related products.
Fifteen hundred dollars worth of registered bonds and war savings stamps were recovered from 20 safety deposit boxes found on the A A Hendricks farm near Colchester. The boxes contained jewelry and papers and were moved to the National Bank at Colchester and then Plymouth Bank for inspection.
Infuriated by his daughter's elopement with 37 year old Mike Milelich after a marriage license was denied in Peoria, Felts a farmer near Bryant south of Canton shot Rosa, 15, and then killed himself. Police learned details today.
Philadelphia Oct 22 Ralph Greenleaf the defending champion remained undefeated as the national pocket billiard tournament began with ten contenders. He had won three games already and led the field as play opened.

In Chiease Illinois a box of candy sent to Miss Helen Rosenfeld a West End Hospital nurse sickened six nurses. Chemists report no poison found though a peculiar drug trace was detected in small amounts. Handwriting on the poison candy wrapper resembles that of Benjamin Zimmerman an ardent suitor who along with his brother is held.
W. L. Standard, president of the Independent Oil Producers' Association of California and sales manager of Union Oil Co., addressed Macomb Rotarians at a Noonday luncheon at the Pace Hotel. He spoke on export trade conditions and their impact on petroleum and related industries while en route home from Chicago and visiting his brother Dr. A. P. Standard's family.
The Macomb West American Legion cleared about 7200 from an Aviation Minstrel staged at the Illinois Theatre on Thursday and Friday nights. After expenses, adjutant L B Eason says proceeds benefited the post. The show by the Turner Production Co led by Louie Purner received praise from attendees.
The Chipman-Wilson sale of Spotted Poland China hogs last Wednesday averaged 24 dollars, seen as strong given market conditions. Ray D. Chipman bought Bus ter's Pride, a third prize Poland China, and a three quarter English boat at a Taylor & Taylor sale last September.

About 600000 shopcraft workers voted to remain at work pending a US Railroad Labor Board ruling on rules and working conditions, delaying a walkout by four large unions planned for October 30. Telegraphers also voted to join the strike to reverse a July wage cut. The Board reported no official notice of Texas train crews quitting yet as discussions continued.
Mrs Elizabeth Ayers of West Murray street turns 84 tomorrow as she keeps good health. She attended the Rock Island W R C convention as chaplain. Kathryn Louise Burke, daughter of Mr and Mrs Francis Burke, marked her birthday Thursday. Elizabeth Cale, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ira Cale, turned seven Friday.
Mrs. W. J. Stinson and her daughter Lavinia and Dorothy along with Miss Bernice Hampton plan a Monday departure in a Ford sedan to Los Angeles Cal. They expect Lavinia may complete a Kansas City strip by rail and may seek permanent relocation.
