A Bloomington era robbery near Colchester ends with Carroll County suspects in custody. The gang allegedly seized a car at night, forced a driver to flee, bound him, and hid him in nearby timber before escaping. Police pursue identification for trial in Peoria on Bloomington assault charges.
Past Exalted Ruler John and the Monmouth lodge led a ceremony that initiated 14 candidates into the Elks. The district trophy bearing team from Galesburg received the cup and will defend it at the Belleville state convention. A lunch followed and plans were made for a May 19 musical to fund the Monmouth ritualistic team’s state trip.
The foundry department of American Steel Products Co. in this city has been shut indefinitely due to weak demand. About twenty workers lost jobs, with management hoping for a one week pause to boost orders and resume operations.

A. T. Stewart returned from Galeshore last night after a second week invoicing stock received by Lynch Co. for Stewart & Co. The process will take several more days for invoicing and packing the stock.
Deputy Sheriff James E. Wilson left this morning with Winifred Riggs to the state reformatory at Pontiac for Levin sentence.
