The People vs Deford of Bushnell set for Tuesday at 1. Court adjourned until Monday morning.
The People's State Bank of Colchester has changed hands with RE Woolever of the Bardolph Bank and O F Dahlstrom of St Paul acquiring control. Dahlstrom and Woolever take over management and plan a new community room, updated furniture, and 4 percent interest on time deposits. Dahlstrom will move to Colchester to occupy the former Glen Walty property.

A Friday night blaze on May 6 destroyed a small Ford car owned by Earl Westfall in Prairie City. Fire officials suspect incendiary origins and fire marshal will pursue blame. $700 loss with no insurance. The car, found early with an empty kerosene can in the rear seat, fueled the theory.
The Junior class at the state normal school will host a real jitney dance in the gym Saturday evening from 8 30 to 10 10 oclock. All former and current students are invited and may bring friends. Steve Sere nnaders will provide the music.
Residents may send a block representative to a Commercial Association meeting next week to decide on street oiling. Ten blocks have signed with S A Thompson, secretary, and money is mostly collected. A car load could oil about twenty blocks. pricing targets around forty dollars per block, with favorable reports urged to join the first oil shipment.

Madison May 13 Cody Dietz, known as Cameron Dam’s defender, was granted a complete pardon by Governor Blaine. The action marks ten years since his 1910 conviction for killing Deputy Oscar Harp. The governor cited public policy and strong evidence supporting Dietz’s innocence.
Washington May 138 The Interstate Commerce Commission chair warned at a general railroad situation hearing that without higher income or lower costs the railroad deficit must be covered by the national treasury. Fine Flowers noted as an assistant in the Circuit Clerk’s office also helping. Mrs Will B Martin improves the office with window flower boxes and posies.
A 60 person state survey team, including Dr Geo Thomas Palmer, lauded McDonough county’s tuberculosis sanatorium under construction in Bushnell. They lauded the facility as among the state’s best and heard building needs from H B Cox and Jason Richardson Jr. The visit included a reception, breakfast, and an on site inspection with plans for a full description to follow.
