M. Ryan to depart for Chicago to join the opening events at Notre Dame University. The fundraiser aims for $500,000 with supporters from across the NS gathered at a meeting at the Congress Hotel. Station KYW will provide coverage with lengths and updates.
Visiting El Tall of Radville accompanies Clair Worden and Mrs Avery Wor to Virvirie City for a wintery outing and job printing.
Andy Lair, co owner of a West Side barber shop, was slashed on the face and his coat cut during a nighttime assault as he drove home from the public square. He later armed himself with a shotgun and searched the neighborhood but the assailant was not found.
Holmes hospital seniors and juniors hosted a celebration at Waterworks Park with 504 members arriving by decorated autos. The event featured mock operations and a festive menu of fried chicken, salads, desserts, and beverages. Plans also loom for the annual track and field meet at Western Illinois State Teachers College on May 13 with Peoria Quincy and Canton among early acceptances and over 200 entries last year expected to rise.

At Macomb Rotary Club luncheon a trial featured Widow Zander versus Bimbo Gampalas. The jury ruled no damages as Bim showed no foul play. Judge A J Ulsinline presided with Sheriff S A Thompson and local residents among the attendees.
Despite warm weather, Macomb reports minor illness with many children out of school due to sore throat and tonsillitis. The community notes a few individual cases rather than a full outbreak. Births include a son to Mr and Mrs Hildebrand of Blacklick and a daughter to Mr and Mrs Geo Doll near Bardolph.
Elmwood won the Military Track Meet yesterday with Western Academy in competition. Local student Stephens earned third in Shot Put, while the local high school did not have representation.
Dick Firgers son of San Charchill suffered a severe crush injury at American Steel Product. Two fingers on his right hand were amputated at Tolmes Hospital where he is reported to be recovering well.
On their return trip from Florida Mr and Mrs Beverly Blick stone of Bardolph report they are en route home by auto. Lester W Campbel of Pasadena formerly Bardolph is visiting there and seems well. Births Mr and Mrs Eugene Campbell of Birmingham welcome an 812 pound girl at Holmes hospital. Witte daughter of Tsave Leushty sustains a minor ankle bruise at school ten days ago confining her to bed.
A mob of about five hundred stormed the Fairfield jail, seized Snappy Curry and two other Black men, and burned them at a stake in Kirvin after an alleged assault on 17 year old Bula Ansley. Local authorities report Curry implicated two others, who were then executed with oil and fuel. Ansley’s body was found near the road after she was attacked while riding home from school.
Elizabeth Elting, two and a half, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Elting of South Dudley street, burned a hole in her apron while attempting to imitate her father. She told her mother she was trying to scratch a mantle like papa does, but could not explain how the blade was stopped.
