A scrambled report notes Ilson asking Missouri Bert Reed as a former president comments on hotel murder and a senator named in a disputed plot. Neighbors allege a landlord pursued a secretary, who pleaded to return.
Robert S. Me, a prominent Woodruff Inn owner, shot and killed Mabel Kerwin, former wife of a wealthy citizen, then killed himself this morning. Neighbors reported the murder occurred after rapid confrontation over a separation and refusal of reconciliation. The couple had reported marital strain for weeks.
The Olph board committee named several members including Sam Alleys J S Beal My and J B Landis Eley Beal and others. Reappointments and land deals are noted with farms in Bardolph and nearby areas and rent per acre figures mentioned for March transactions.
Fragmentary report states a man from East Jefferson parish is critically ill with a stomach ailment and is under medical care. The text is incomplete but indicates severe illness and ongoing treatment.
Fifty nine Greeks charged with murder of Sheriff Lashbrook and deputies Utter and Neff in Schuyler county will be tried in Quincy during the first week of June. Judge Wolfe agreed to move the trial from Petersburg to Quincy after a joint request by State's Attorney Mourning and the defendants. Bail set at 10000 each. Most defendants held in Jacksonville, to be moved to Quincy soon.
Macomb police last night announced 27 automobiles were linked to petting parties in Oakwood cemetery. Officers said any cars found there again will incur fines for both licenses and registrations. One driver attempted to flee past the cemetery toward North Lafayette Street, and will be charged for speeding.
Pushnell May 6 William Wartzeil of Carthage chosen as Memorial Day orator by the American Legion in charge of Bushnell exercises. Wartzeil, a son in France in World War I, brings strong oratory and local interest to the event.
Tiernan Brothers have the contract to build the new Johnson Oil station at the corner of North Lafayette Street and West Adam Street. Construction will begin at once.
Macomb opens its baseball season next Sunday afternoon at Colchester Ball Park against Colchester. Pitching roles look set with Randolph or Murphy likely to start, Conners at first, Foster at third, and Jackson at short. The game serves as a strong tryout for spots on a fast semi pro team.
Beginning at the west line plant contractor A. E. Maguire started grading for a railroad to the new clay nit site. Work commenced at the factory end of the line.

A three day Knights of Columbus convention started in Galesburg with high expected attendance. Delegates began arriving Sunday and a special Chicago train will bring northern delegates this evening. The Galesburg lodge conferred first second and third degrees yesterday on many candidates.
Physicians report mumps common among children in the city and vicinity. While the illness causes no major injury, it is quite disas terous for the sufferers and warrants attention.
Former President Wilson writes to Governor Stephens urging Missouri Democrats to repudiate Senator Reed, calling Reed unfit and a menace to party ideals. The letters touch off a heated exchange as Reed and Wilson clash over party reputation and primary prospects in St. Louis.
Lindeman of Facoh and Miss Parker of Wittenburg were the principals in a unique wedding staged atop a Ferris wheel during a Cape Girardeau carnival. The crowd cheered as the wheel descended while an Indian blanket and cut glass water set were presented.
Galesburg May 6 A railroad official states freight hauling for the Burlington has increased in the past two weeks as many flood damaged lines hinder shipments. Some consignments were diverted to Burlington due to track conditions, disrupting other routes.
