An explosion at a one story brick warehouse at 710 Barber Street southwest of downtown Chicago killed at least six and possibly more. In Galesburg on March 29 W. T. Morris a former taxi manager now of Monmouth halted a robbers attack on a downtown corner. A thug fired twice. one bullet hit Morris’s vest watch and glanced off while another tore a hole in his coat. A blow with a blackjack felled him but rescuers arrived, leaving the robbers empty handed after Morris defended about $300.
