The United States Railway Labor Board dismissed an appeal for higher wages filed last fall by fifteen unions against sixty seven short line railways. Monticello Ga March 28 authorities push peonage murder case after two additional bodies of black victims are recovered from the Alcovy river bringing total to eleven. Coroner's verdict pins deaths on Clyde Manning with Williams named as accessory. Manning admits eleven enslaved men were killed to silence them.
Ottumwa Iowa report says John K Mahon president of the Samuel Mahon Co wholesale grocers with branches at Galesburg and Moline shot himself through the head. He was a prominent city business man whose two years of ill health from war Red Cross work and influenza epidemic fatigue is believed to have caused the act.
County assessors from McDonough convened with County Treasurer John A. Barclay to receive instructions for the year and supplies for determining assessed values. They will share agricultural census duties and collect dog tax with tags issued for each dollar. Names from area townships appear in the roster.
The annual Senior Class circus attracted a large crowd despite rain and a Saturday night.
