Part of stolen goods recovered in school house burglary

A Corona typewriter and other items valued at 68 dollars were stolen from the Cover school house on Landon road November 5. Police found the typewriter near Reiley woods and suspect a loiterer behind the school with two accomplices. Officers press for quick arrests.

Illinois teachers vote to join the National Education Association

In Springfield the Illinois Teachers Association approved affiliation with the National Education Association despite minority opposition calling it undemocratic. New president J O Engleman of Joliet supported the move noting improvements since past objections. The meeting adjourned after noon. Partnership dissolved as Smith and Burton plan Plymouth drilling follow up on the Miller farm with Smith and crew continuing work.

Local Canton Show Winners List and Honors

E N White of Industry won multiple honors with Rhode Island Reds including second cock and pullet categories. Pure Bred Stock Burned In Big Barns

Dixon Newfoundland December 31 Twenty head of pure bred Holstein cattle and six horses perished in a fire believed incendiary. The blaze destroyed barns on the Underwood farm near Dixon late last night. Plainfield Utah December 31 Forty head of cattle eight horses and twenty pigs and large quantities of grain and hay were lost when four buildings on the Stewart farm were burned early today. The home was saved with total losses around thirty thousand dollars.
