Fire at Rowe Manufacturing plant in Galesburg

A fire of undetermined origin destroyed part of the Rowe Manufacturing Company plant in Galesburg this morning causing an estimated loss of about 15000 dollars. Fire crews battled the flames but the extent of damage could not be immediately determined.

Percy L. Kinney of Galesburg will take charge of the science work at EW High School after the vacation. The vacancy arose from a resignation. Kinney is an Illinois graduate with two years of high school teaching experience. He succeeds Miss Borland of Bloomington Indiana.

Club plans summer learning trip to Europe and Canada

Man Named Potter Arrested After Hotel Bill Incident

A man giving the name J. M. Potter of Lansing caused suspicion at the Q station when he failed to settle a $3 hotel bill. Officer Faulk and Deputy Wilson detained him as he tried boarding a train, but he paid the debt and was allowed to depart. He had earlier checked in under two other names at the Pace Hotel, registering as J. Judson of Clinton and T. Loomis of Rock Island.
