Young Man Die In Apparent Accident Near Prairie City

Marvin Carpenter aged 22 son of Jacob Carpenter of Marietta died at F L Brown home eight miles southeast of Prairie City while cleaning a revolver that failed to catch on the hammer. A coroner jury ruled the death accidental after initial belief of self harm. The weapon fired in a dark dining room with the bullet entering the right side near the heart. Dr Drake of Prairie City attended.

Fred B Blazer longtime hog expert and editor of the Aledo Times Record died at his Mercer County home after a four week illness from septic poisoning linked to influenza He born November 12 1881 in Macomb attended Monmouth College and Wichita College married Elizabeth Niedlander in 1905 He leaves two sons a widow and several siblings and was active in Republican politics and press associations in Illinois.

Springfield dispatch says the Supreme court affirmed a Hancock county verdict finding Chester sodd guilty and he must serve the sentence. Todd, ex garage owner of New Philadelphia, linked to auto thefts over a year ago, faced charges. The Hancock case involved the Buick coupe stolen from Sherman Bradfield of LaHarpe on August 15 1920. The Christian Endeavor society of the Presbyterian Church will hold a watch party Saturday evening from 10 to 12.
